BATANGAS CITY - Cluster coordinators of the Barangay Responsable Aktibo Disiplinado (KABRAD) cluster coordinators of the city government in the city's coastal barangays have begun monitoring proper waste management, February 4.
The said work is related to the strict implementation of the Batangas City Solid Waste Management Board of R.A. 9003 or Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
Team Solid Baybay wants to ensure that waste segregation is implemented in the barangay, reduce the use of plastic, if there is a compost pit and make the materials recovery facility (MRF) operational again.
The group checked to see if the barangay's solid waste management council is still active and whether its solid waste management plan is still being implemented amid the pandemic.
They also inspected the Project Free Throw in each site where residents dispose of their recyclable and residual wastes, particularly pet bottles.
They also encouraged residents to implement the 9 R’s in waste management- reuse, reduce, recycle, reuse, repurpose, reject, replace, recover and rethink to help reduce waste in the barangay.
