LUCBAN, Quezon -Starting this month, a few weeks prior to the Lenten season, the Municipality of Lucban is tightening its health protocols.
In his Executive Order No. 20, Mayor Celso Dator ordered that, in preparation for the influx of visitors and devotees, more stringent border security measures be enforced in their city to ensure the safety and well-being of the public.
In compliance with the current Inter Agency Task Force Guidelines on COVID-19, only individuals between the ages of 16 and 64 are permitted to leave their homes. Movement is now, however, limited to essential purposes.
Residents must also submit certificates certifying that they are physically fit for travel, as well as health declaration forms and their personal contact details, secured at least three (3) days prior to entering the municipality, in addition to strict compliance with health protocols.
Meanwhile, tourists who have recently traveled abroad or other high-infection areas must present the results of their RT-PCR swab test taken two weeks before their visit. Checkpoints will also be strategically located at all entry and exit points in the area.
Three (3) days before entering the municipal borders, repatriated residents from abroad are required to submit their health certificates, health declaration forms and results to their rapid antigen test or RT-PCR test.
Gatherings are permitted, such as work conferences, weddings or birthdays, provided that participants are limited to fifty percent (50 percent) of the capacity of the venue.
Non-residents' deliveries and other business transactions, including those employed within the municipality, are also expected to submit health declaration forms and travel passes, along with their personal contact details.
During the Lenten season, Lucban is a famous destination for tourists and devotees. One of its tourism attractions, Kamay ni Hesus, is also one of the country's highest Christ statues and is flocked annually by hundreds of pilgrims.
