New flagship programs of LGU Alitagtag, already aligned

ALITAGTAG, Batangas - Alitagtag Mayor Edilberto Ponggos announced the aligned flagship programs of the local government in a Network Briefing News led by Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Martin Andanar yesterday, Feb 1, 2021.

According to Ponggos, one of the things they see is the need to strengthen the tourism sector in their town.

He said that there is a place in their town called "Dingin," which you can see the beautiful scenery on the Taal Lakeside, and below there is a 500-meter shoreline that could possibly be a swimming, picnic, and camping area for tourists.

“Kapag naisaayos ang “Dingin,” malaki ang maitutulong sa income ng aming bayan dahilan sa environmental fee na makokolekta sa mga turista. May bahagi din ang aming bayan na kapantay ng Tagaytay at plano naming mabutasan iyong pinaka-itaas dahil may limang barangay kami na nasasakop nito at maaaring gawing overlooking sa Taal Lake upang sa gayon mabubuhay ang komersyo sa bahaging ito ng aming bayan,” Ponggos said.

In this regard, Ponggos asked for the help of Sec. Andanar to approach the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to provide additional funding to continue the renovation of the road above it.

The people added that from tax payments, cedula, getting a business permit, they will provide an Economic Package for tricycle drivers to help them in their livelihood.

In the 19 barangays covered by the town, they will choose a beneficiary in each barangay who will be given a grocery package or livestock package to raise their standard of living.

Another flagship program is the provision of housing program to residents affected by the eruption of Taal Volcano, especially those on the fringes in collaboration with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) which targets to provide housing for about 500 families.

Housing will be paid by the beneficiaries at a low cost only. In phase 1, tricycle drivers will be beneficiaries and in Phase 2, low-income earners such as factory workers and private employees will be beneficiaries.

There is also housing available for local government staff in collaboration with Pag-IBIG and DHSUD. This includes teachers, police, and municipal employees who are homeless. Pag-IBIG is the local government's partner in the development of 168 slots.

Meanwhile, Kapiling Bawat Tahanan ng Punong Bayan will begin this month, a program with the concept of lowering all local government services in the barangays. This is to avoid making it difficult for those in the barangay to go to the municipality and facilitate the provision of services to them.

In the field of education, educational assistance will be provided to young people who are not covered by assistance from the Batangas provincial government.
