BATANGAS CITY - As many areas in the country continue to undergo community quarantine due to the pandemic, the likelihood of an increase in the number of pregnant women, cases of teenage pregnancy, and domestic violence has increased.
As a result, the Commisssion on Population (POPCOM) Region IV-A CALABARZON released the COVID-19 Helpline.
The said helpline seeks to address the problem facing the public regarding Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP), Adolescent Health and Development (AHD), and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
According to the 2017 National Demographic and Health Survey, 16.2% of women aged 15-49 in CALABARZON experience physical abuse and 3.3% sexual abuse.
The helpline will serve as a partner for community health centers to provide first line of assistance and support through age-appropriate health information and referrals to social protection services.
PopComm has also worked with various government agencies to prevent the abuses mentioned in the midst of the ongoing public health crisis.
You can contact the official helpline number 09171100499 for RPFP concerns, 09171227434 for AHD concerns, and 09171468825 for GBV issues.
The PopComm Division of the City Health Office has also put up a tarpaulin about this program in some barangays in the city.
For those who want to do family planning, they inform everyone that there are commodities (family planning methods) available in barangay health centers such as pills, condoms, injectables, and other contraceptives to prevent premature pregnancy.
