ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, March 4 (PIA)-- 279 Antipolo City frontliners are among the first outside the National Capital Region to receive COVID-19 Vaccinations says Department of Health Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana at the Symbolic COVID-19 vaccination at the Antipolo City Hospital System Annex IV.
Among the first to receive the vaccines in Antipolo are City Health Officer Dr. Concepcion Lat administered by former Antipolo City Mayor Jun Ynares, who is also a physician, as well as other hospital heads of the city's four hospital city annexes.
Former Mayor Jun Ynares, representing Mayor Andrea Ynares, also thanks the national government for the vaccines for the opportunity to be the first outside Metro Manila inoculate medical frontliners.
The ceremonial vaccination is led by Deputy Chief Implementor Secretary Vince Dizon, Metro Manila Development Authority General Manager Jojo Garcia, DOH Assistant Secretary Maria Francia Laxamana, Department of the Interior and Local Government Assistant Secretary Manuel Felix and DOH Regional Director Eduardo Janairo.
"The Best vaccine is the vaccine that is already here because we cannot afford to let our frontliners wait," remarks deputy chief implementor Secretary Vince Dizon.
Sec. Dizon adds that the Philippine General Hospital has submitted data indicating the steady increase of citizens who have been vaccinated despite public opinions that only few have expressed the willingness to be vaccinated.
"On Monday 128 have been vaccinated in PGH, on Tuesday 483 and on Wednesday almost 600 which shows increasing confidence regardless of what the brand of the vaccines is," Sec. Dizon adds.
According to Ynares, around 500 out of the province's medical frontliners in public hospitals have already signed up for vaccination as soon as other doses of vaccines are set to arrive.
Antipolo City also has a tripartite agreement with Astrazeneca although the specific number of vaccines available for the city as well as the date of arrival have not yet been specified.
DOH IV-A Regional Director Eduardo Janairo also calls on media to help promote vaccination to the public during the end of the symbolic vaccination.
Tents have been set up within the Antipolo City Hospital System Annex IV compound to serve as the vaccination area wherein vaccination process consists of 5 steps including the registration, Counselling & Final Consent, Observation, Vaccination and Post-vaccination Observation. (GG/PIA-Rizal)
