BATANGAS CITY - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provided the Batangas city government with the Rx Box which is a portable biomedical monitoring device, on March 18.
It was received by Mayor Beverley Dimacuha and Congressman Marvey Marino from DOST Batangas Director Felina Malabanan.
The RX box was developed by UP Manila and UP Diliman supported by the DOST-Philippine Council for Health Research and Development (PCHRD) with the aim of reducing COVID-19 transmission by reducing physical contact between medical front liners and patients with COVID-19.
The RX Box is able to obtain medical signals through built-in medical sensors such as blood pressure monitor, pulse oximeter, electrocardiogram (ECG), fetal heart monitor, maternal tocometer and temperature sensor.
This will be used by the CHO at the COVID-19 isolation facility to quickly assess the condition of patients.
Batangas City is the first LGU in the province to receive the Rx Box.
City Health Officer Dr. also participated in the turnover ceremony. Rosanna Carmelita Barrion and Dr Liza Gonzales of the CHO as well as DOST CALABARZON’s RxBox Coordinator Chuck Corpuz.
