BATANGAS CITY - An online seminar called “Barangay Rangers and Wildlife Enforcement Officer Webinar” was held by the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) for barangay officials of the city on February 17-19.

The purpose of the aforementioned webinar is to provide them with adequate knowledge about ‘modern day environmental hazards’ and how they can assist the city government in environmental protection.

According to City Environment Officer Oliver Gonzales, he wants the local government and the barangay to take joint action in protecting and protecting the environment.

Francis Africa, Forester II of DENR / CENRO, served as a resource speaker where he discussed the salient features of RA 9147 or the “Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act” as well as the Deputization of Wildlife Enforcement Officers or WEO.

In addition, Africa also provided important information about PD 705 or the Forestry Reform Code of the Philippines.

Angela Agapay, Forester I of DENR / CENRO clarified the laws on tree cutting, tree registration, harvesting and transporting.

He said anyone who makes the mention should take a permit from their office.

Renzyl Lladonet, Embedded Technical Personnel of the DENR Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) explained RA 7942 or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995.

Maria Cristina Sunguad of City ENRO discussed some provisions of the Environmental Code of Batangas City.

Barangays from Solid Baybay and Upland, barangays from Solid North and Solid East attended the first day on the second day, and on the last day of the webinar were poblacion and sub-urban barangays including Cuta, Wawa, Malitam, and Sta. Clara.
