BACOOR CITY, Cavite - Vaccination against COVID-19 began on March 10, 2021 in this city after 114 vials of single dose Sinovac vaccine arrived from the National Government's allocation on March 9, 2021 allocation.
The vaccination roll-out held at the Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital (STRH) was led by Mayor Lani Mercado-Revilla along with the Deputy Speaker and Cavite 2nd District Rep. Strike Revilla and Department of Health - CALABARZON Regional Director Eduardo Janairo.
In her message, Rep. Strike Revilla a year ago, and everyone has suffered tremendous hardship due to the pandemic.
"Napakahirap ng dinanas natin, kaya eto na ngayon. Ito na ang magbibigay ng kalayaan sa atin. Unti-unti, alam ko ngayon ay muling tumataas ang bilang ng kaso ng COVID-19, nakakalungkot kaya dapat ay paalalahanan natin ang ating mga kababayan sa patuloy na pag-iingat," Cong. Revilla said.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lani Revilla thanked the national government led by President Rodrigo Duterte for giving priority to the city for vaccine allocation despite the shortage of its supply.
He was also pleased to announce that with the arrival of Director Janairo, he will be carrying an additional 238 doses for a total of 352 doses of Sinovac that will surely be given to 191 healthcare workers of STRH for the 1st and 2nd dose.
"Malaking tulong ito sa amin para mas mapalakas namin ang aming kampanyang LIGTAS BACOOR! Bacoor, Yes sa Bakuna! na kung saan ay maipapaliwanag ang kahalagahan ng bakuna at mahikayat ang mga Bacooreño na magpabakuna," Mayor Revilla said.
At the beginning of the vaccination led by Dr. Efraim Rubiano, OIC Hospital Director of STRH lined up the healthcare workers of the facility, followed by City Health Officer Dr. Ivy Marie Yrastorza, and STRH Dentist Head Dr. Marilou Rivera, to show the confidence of the vaccine leadership and encourage fellow healthcare workers of the facility to get vaccinated as well.
According to Dir. Janairo, Cavite is the 4th province where the vaccination rollout has already begun.
"Bagamat kaunti pa lamang, at least ngayon ay mayroon na tayong panlaban sa COVID-19 kaya po wag nating sayangin at pag-isipan pa," Janairo said.
RD Janairo also stressed that the most effective defense is to continue to follow minimum health protocols, to wash, stay away, and wear a mask and face shield.
