LUCENA CITY – On March 11, 2021, after the Covid-19 vaccine rollout led by the Department of Health (DOH) 4-A (Calabarzon) Director Eduardo Janairo held at the Quezon Medical Center (QMC).
The Quezon Province Governor, Danilo E. Suarez assured his team that he is prepared to secure the 2.2 million population in Quezon Province by purchasing vaccines against the COVID-19 virus amounting to PHP1-Billion loan.
A total of 1,790 Sinovac vaccines arrived in Lucena City from Manila, Suarez said that he is expressing hope that the province would also be given AstraZeneca vaccines by the national government.
The first recipient of the vaccine which is allocated for the province is the chief of QMC’s Infectious Diseases Department, Dr. Allen Logatoc.
Governor Suarez encourages all medical health workers in Quezon Province to avail the vaccine after witnessing the ceremonial vaccination against Covid-19 of Dr. Logatoc and immediately noted its quick procedure.
The ceremonial vaccination was also attended by other government officials and health workers namely, Vice Governor Sam Nantes, Board Members Alona Obispo, and Yna Liwanag, QMC's chief of the hospital Dr. Rolando Padre, provincial Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases vice-chair Dr. Grace Santiago, and QMC administrator Ruel Napeñas, who was also among the first medical front-liners recipient.
