Tanay, Rizal - Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Director General Undersecretary Wilkins Villanueva and Tanay Mayor Rex Manuel Tanjuatco sign a usufruct agreement for the development of the PDEA Academy and Tanay-PDEA Forest Park in the town.
Tanay Sangguniang Bayan Resolution No. 192 s. 2020 allows PDEA to utilize 10 hectares of land in Sitio Tablon, Barangay Cuyambay for the establishment of a park and academy.
The usufruct agreement signed at the Tanay Municipal Hall on March 10, 2021 will last for 50 years and may be renewed upon mutual agreement of both parties after the period lapses.
Mayor Tanjuatco stated that, the academy being the only one in the country will bring prestige to the province similar to that of the Philippine National Police Academy and Philippine Military Academy.
"Rizal will be recognized as the nexus and nerve center of the country's fight against drugs," Mayor Tanjuatco adds.
Prior to the agreement, PDEA agents have been trained within the PNPA Compound in Silang, Cavite.
PDEA Director General Usec. Villanueva concurred stating that, "This lot (PDEA Academy) will be the haven of future drugbusters in the country."
Prior to the ceremonial signing, local and PDEA officials also led the blessing of the Balay Silangan reformation center in Sitio Waray, Barangay Plaza Aldea. (GG/PIA-Rizal)
