LUCENA CITY - The present number of patients of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Quezon province went down to 171 on Saturday.
Records of the Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) show that the highest tally of 1,119 active cases in the twice-a-day count was recorded on November 12, 2020.
It dropped to 343 on February 1, even after the holiday season, and further fell to 164 on February 25 which is the lowest recorded daily tally of active cases.
As of Saturday, the IPHO disclosed that the number of active virus carriers in Quezon is down to only 171.
The IPHO continued to record a downward trend of new Covid-19 cases in the province.
From February 1 to 26, a total of only 332 cases have so far been recorded.
Last month, the province recorded 696 Covid-19 cases; December (845), November (1,612), and October (1,717).
Janet Geneblazo, Quezon public information officer, earlier said, attributed the continued drop of Covid-19 cases in the province to the strict compliance of the people to all safety and health protocols that aim to prevent the spread of the virus.
Lucena City, the provincial capital, now has only 17 active cases, which peaked at 279 on October 21 last year.
Quezon which is still under a modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) until March 31, logged 7,246 Covid-19 cases since the pandemic was declared in March last year, but at least 6,822 have recovered.
The total Covid-19 death toll in the province rose to 253 after a validated virus carrier in Sariaya town was listed as the latest fatality on February 27.
