LUCENA CITY - On April 14, Governor Danilo E. Suarez and Gumaca Mayor Webster Letargo attended a meeting with members of the Quezon Transport Workers Association (QTWA) in the lobby of the Provincial Governor's Office in Lucena City.
Members of the organization were able to bring their grievances and the support they required during this activity because they are among those whose livelihoods have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some were bus and jeep drivers, conductors, and inspectors who had lost some of their jobs.
In an interview with Mr. Dario Enteria, Acting President of QTWA, he expressed how difficult it is for them to lose their jobs, especially during the pandemic, and voiced support to the Provincial Government for allowing them to bring their families closer together.
Meanwhile, Mr. Leonilo Paril, Jr. the Jeepney President of the Atimonan Gumaca Jeepney Operators Driver Association (AGJODA) Transport Cooperative expressed their sentiment regarding the modernization program for passenger jeeps and the impact of the pandemic on their work belonging to the transport sector.
Gumaca Mayor Webster Letargo, on the other hand, expressed his support for the association's proposed requests to the Provincial Government, which he stated was one of the ways this meeting could be held.
Meanwhile, in conjunction with the announcement of the Provincial Government's programs, Governor Suarez promised an immediate response to the grievances and requests of the Quezon Province Transport Association that were affected by the pandemic.
Following this activity, the Governor attended a meeting of the Province's chief of Hospitals to discuss the continuation of COVID-19-fighting measures.
