LOS BAÑOS, Laguna - To combat the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the town of Los Baños strictly enforced mandatory isolation of suspects, probable cases, and confirmed cases.
This is in accordance with Executive Order No. 023 signed by Mayor Antonio Kalaw recently, according to the Los Baños Public Information Office.
In the Los Baños PIO report, the law is based on Republic Act 1132 or 'Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act' which aims to intensify the implementation of its provisions such as mandatory reporting of infectious diseases. and implementation of quarantine protocols and other disease control prevention measures.
Under the ordinance, citizens who refuse or fail to comply with such measures can be arrested while establishments and businesses can have their permits revoked.
The executive order also states that private professionals can also have their licenses revoked and a government employee who violates the law can be suspended or deprived of civil service eligibility.
The Los Baños town government hopes that through this ordinance the safety of its citizens will be ensured against the threat of COVID-19.
“Sa pamamagitan ng batas na ito ay higit na masisiguro ng pamahalaang bayan ng Los Baños na ligtas ang mga mamamayan mula sa nakahahawa at nakamamatay na COVID-19 at mas maalagaan at mamomonitor rin nang husto ang mga pasyenteng tinamaan nito,” it said.
