LOS BAÑOS - Following the approval of the Sinovac vaccine for senior citizens, the LGUs of Los Baños began vaccinating those in the A2 priority last April 13.
In accordance with the recommendation of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Sinovac vaccine can be used for senior citizens.
In this regard, vaccination of those in the A3 priority group or individuals with comorbidities had been temporarily postponed to allow vaccination in the second priority group.
The local government clarified that the first batch of vaccines that arrived in town is still limited and insufficient, so senior citizens from 'high-burdened barangays' will be given priority.
The local government, on the other hand, has warned that walk-ins will be strictly prohibited to maintain social distancing and safety of vaccinators. It also reminded senior citizens to wait for a call or text message from the Municipal Health Office for the vaccination schedule.
Meanwhile, senior citizens with ailments such as autoimmune disease, human-immunodeficiency virus, cancer patients, transplant patients, or with serious illnesses need to bring medical clearance from a doctor.
Vaccination was conducted at the designated vaccination center in Brgy. Batong Malake Covered Court, according to the Los Baños Public Information Office.
