TAYABAS CITY - Police operatives seized some three million pesos worth of illegal drugs in a drug buy-bust and arrested two drug suspects at Brgy. Calumpang, in this city!
Quezon police director Col. Ericson Dilag identified the arrested suspect as Edwin Luistro, 50, grader operator, and Nolly Batoto, 52, driver, both residents of Catanauan, Quezon.
In his report to Calabarzon police director Brig. Gen. Felipe Natividad, Dilag said Luistro and Batoto were collared shortly after they received marked money from a poseur buyer during a drug buy-bust supervised by Tayabas City police station chief Major Romar Pacis.
Dilag said the operatives seized from the duo some 155.85 grams of shabu with the street value of ₱3,179,340.00.
After being collared, Dilag said Batoto managed to escape using his Nissan Navarra but was eventually collared by the arresting cops after a brief chase.
Aside from shabu, he said the lawmen also recovered 10 pieces of ₱1,000 bills they used as marked money.
The suspects were charged with violations of Section 5 and 11 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002 before the Office of Tayabas City Prosecutor's Office.
Dilag said their intensified anti-drug campaign in the province continues despite the prevailing COVID pandemic.
