LUCENA CITY - “Nananatili po tayong walang kaso ng anumang variant ng COVID-19”
This was clarified by Dr. Grace Santiago, Director of the Integrated Provincial Health Office, in a statement posted on the Quezon Provincial Information Office's Facebook page on April 3, Saturday, after news of the covid variant in the province, spread on social media.
According to Dr. Santiago, they have not received any official reports or documents indicating that there is already a covid variant infection in the province.
She stated that if an official statement is issued, it will come from the Department of Health and will be posted on their website, as well as provide official details on the region or province where the covid variant is infected.
She further said that there is nothing to be concerned about because the provincial government, led by Governor Danilo ‘Danny' Suarez and the mayors are working in close collaboration with national government agencies such as the DOH and DILG.
She goes on to explain that they are continuing to take steps to reduce the growing number of covid-19 cases and accelerate vaccination against it.
To recall, Mayor Olivier Dator of Lucban, Quezon, posted on social media that he was continuing to keep his citizens safe because there is a confirmed covid UK variant in their town.
Santiago, on the other hand, said that the number of active confirmed cases is increasing and almost all public and private hospitals are full. In fact, on the third of April, 10:30 am, the province recorded 8,248 cases, 639 of which were active cases. , 7,320 were healed and 289 died.
But she said of these recorded numbers, no variant has yet been recorded in Quezon province. (with a report from PIO Lucena)
