BATANGAS CITY - The Batangas Provincial Government continues to conduct air quality monitoring, in accordance with the instructions of Gov. DoDo Mandanas and through the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), even during a pandemic.
PGENRO has designated eight monitoring stations, located in Lipa City, Batangas City, Sto. Tomas City, Tanauan City, Taysan, San Pascual and Taal. They take samples, using a high volume sampler, once a year to assess air quality in the towns mentioned.
Tests are conducted to determine the air quality at the designated stations that will be the basis for the planning and implementation of programs to maintain the standard air quality in the province.
In addition, the said office also conducts air quality monitoring in ten district hospitals of the province, including Batangas Provincial Hospital, Apacible Memorial District Hospital, Don Manuel Lopez Memorial District Hospital, Lobo Municipal Hospital, Laurel Memorial District Hospital, Martin Marasigan Memorial. District Hospital, Lipa District Hospital, MVM Sto. Rosario District Hospital, San Jose District Hospital, and San Juan District Hospital.
Public hospitals liaise with PGENRO in compliance with the conditions of their Environmental Compliance Certificate or ECC in relation to Republic Act No. 8749 or Philippine Clean Air Act of 1999.
The result is communicated to the administration of the district hospitals for their information and immediate solution if the result does not meet the correct standards. (with reports from Batangas Capitol PIO-PG-ENRO)
