LUCENA CITY - On May 4, Governor Danilo E. Suarez attended the CALABARZON Regional Conference on Peace and Development, which was organized by the National Anti-Poverty Commission in collaboration with the Provincial Government and held at the Quezon Convention Center in Lucena City.
Around 500 guests at the conference heard from speakers including Elias Labro-Head Executive Assistant / Chief of Staff National Anti-Poverty Commission Head & SUCBEM Cluster Secretariat, Atty. Josefina Rodriguez-Augustin, OIC Regional Director-NCIP IV-A, Engr. Marcos Aves, Regional Technical Director DA-IV A, Rene Colocar-Regional Director, DAR 4-A, Sammy Malvas, Regional Director-BFAR IV-A, Edwin Hernandez DOLE Quezon Provincial Director while Sec. Allan Capuyan - NCIP Executive Director / NTF ELCAC Secretariat at Usec. Marjorie Jalosjos –DILG.
3rd District Congw. Aleta Suarez and Board Member Jet Suarez expressed their support for the activity and personally listened to some of the discussions.
Various sectors in CALABARZON, including indigenous brothers or ancestors, fishermen, farmers, transportation groups, and other organizations, also attended the conference.
Mr. Labro, the Chief of Staff of NAPC, stressed in his speech the importance of discussing the content of Executive Order No. 70 and providing information about the state of poverty in the country so that poverty does not spiral out of control.
Governor Suarez expressed his support for NAPC's programs and projects, as well as his desire to provide an adequate budget for the agency in the event that everything returns to normal, in order to further meet the agency's aspirations.
Aside from the open forum and press conference, the CALABARZON Peace and Development Manifesto was signed.
Meanwhile, at Gumaca Mango Growers, Governor led the turnover of the closed van truck.
