TAYTAY, Rizal - The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has approved a P8 million grant for the rehabilitation of Maningning Creek and the Taytay River, which will serve as a model for revitalizing and repairing Laguna Lake's waterways.
Tobit Cruz, one of the project's supporters, stated, "Good news. Na-approve na ang grant natin sa Department of Science and Technology (DOST) para sa patuloy na pag-rehabilitate ng Maningning Creek at Taytay River na may halagang nasa higit kumulang 8 Million Pesos."
According to him, he had the opportunity to join the Execom meeting of DOST presided over by Secretary Fortunato de la Peña, for the final defense of this program.
"Proud ako dahil halos puro kami taga-Taytay sa team na pinangungunahan ni Dr. Mylene Cayetano, taga Bautista Street, at ni Ma’am Leni Santos-Borja na taga-Rosario Street." he said.
This program includes the construction of a community-level wastewater treatment facility, the development of environmentally friendly soaps for use as a barangay livelihood program, and the revision of waterway ordinances and policies.
He stated that he hopes to use Maningning Creek and the Taytay River as models for revitalizing and repairing all of the waterways that lead to Laguna Lake.
