BATANGAS CITY - EBD Blades was crowned champion and best group in the dance challenge of the CGN Global Online Championship held on May 2.
Colorguard Netherlands United (CGN United) is a virtual competition of The Netherlands featuring 275 performances by 150 groups and individuals from 16 countries.
It is a professional platform that aims to promote dance and music sport among young people and hone their technical skill and creativity.
CGN is a competition with various categories in the field of marching band such as percussion, winds, movements and colorguards.
The dance challenge is focused on movement and does not require equipment.
EBD Blades is the official marching band of Batangas City under the supervision of the City Council for Youth Affairs (CCYA) legacy of former Mayor Eddie B. Dimacuha.
They consist of eight members who are all highschool and college students.
"Pagduong" is the title of their winning entry.
“Hindi naging madali ang pinagdaanan namin pero alam namin na hindi imposible. Everything was a struggle, mula sa costume, sa paghahanap ng practice place at venue for video shoot dahil ng pandemyang ating nararanasan pero it was all worth it dahil kami ang nanalo”, Christopher Ramos, the band director and choreographer of the group said.
He also stressed that they are very happy and honored to represent the city and the country in the said competition.
The group extended their gratitude to everyone who helped and was a part of their success.
