BATANGAS CITY - Two critical points were emphasized at a recent meeting of the Batangas Inter-Agency Task Force and the Batangas Provincial Health Board in order to combat the rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus.
Governor Hermilando Mandanas believes that the moment has come to start drafting a digital shift in the provincial government in response to public service, as well as the implementation of effective Integrated Health Management under the Universal Health Care Act to meet the medical needs of Batanguenos.
He stated that it is appropriate to use the digital platform for transactions, particularly during the Corona virus pandemic.
The digital shift includes the availability of transactions through tele-medicine, business and public transactions or e-commerce for banking and finance, public and private transactions, payment of utilities, purchase or importation of food and other basic daily necessities.
This is the provincial capital's visible way to reduce the exposure and interaction of people in various places as well as the transmission of documents and money which is one of the considered causes of the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
This is after having a high number of staff hit by the virus in the Finance and Social Welfare departments of the Batangas Provincial Government recently.
Meanwhile, Mandanas instructed the Batangas IATF and Provincial Health Board to set up a 24-hour command center that will respond to the needs, questions, and other concerns of the public and local governments as they respond to the pandemic in their jurisdiction.
Led by the Provincial Health Office along with related agencies to provide information such as hospital transfers, coordination between hospital and isolation facilities, medical inquiries, and vaccine roll-outs in the province.
In addition, it also instructed the Provincial Health Board to liaise with TTMFs or temporary treatment and monitoring facilities to have a Mental health Program that will look at the mental and emotional condition of patients confirmed with COVID-19 who are mostly going through mental stress and depression.
