LUCBAN, Quezon - Lucban, Quezon Municipal Mayor urged the Sangguniang Bayan (SB) to approve the Supplemental Budget 1 appropriations to meet the needs of the citizens of the town.
Mayor Celso Oliver Dator has been requesting to approve the said budget in the past three sessions by the Sangguniang Bayan.
"Lets not talk about anything, the only thing here is the agenda of Supplemental Budget 1 appropriations provided for the smooth run of our town and to meet the needs of our citizens," he said.
"There are three important sessions that are wasted, now you're in a hurry because there are services and people affected by negligence," Dator added.
Dator is pertaining to the Presiding Officer Vice Mayor Moises Villaseñor.
The vice mayor, earlier, wants to remove the job orders and questioning the funds allocated for their salary and give the budget to buy vaccine for the coronavirus disease (Covid-19).
"Work hard and lets serve accordingly to meeting people's needs. This is the time of pandemic, put politics aside. We must work together," Dator added.
Meanwhile, in February, the Sandiganbayan has cleared Dator for the Anti- Graft and Corrupt Practices Act charges filed against him for appointing her sister to the position of municipal administrator.
The Anti- Graft Court's Fourth Division acquitted Dator of the charges.
"For failure of the prosecution to meet the required quantum of evidence to ascribe criminal liability on the part of the accused Dator, it is the duty of the court to acquit him of the crime charged against him", the decision penned by Associate Justice Lorifel Lacap Pahimna, stated.
Moreover, the case stemmed from the March 1, 2014 order of Dator appointing her sister Maria Lyncelle Macandile as Chief Administrative Officer and Municipal Administrator.
Former Lucban mayor Villaseñor who filed the charges alleged that Macandile failed to meet the qualifications for the position and that Dator has clearly violated the Anti- Graft and Corrupt Practices Act and that he has committed grave abuse of authority.
In his defense, through his counsel Atty. Vitaliano Aguirre, Dator clarified that her sister Macandile is holder of a bachelor's degree in Nursing and passed the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination conducted by Professional Regulation Commission and is thus, covered by Civil Service Eligibility granted under Republic Act 1080.
