BATANGAS CITY - The newly constructed Batangas City-San Pascual-Bauan Diversion Road will be officially open for traffic on May 13, 2021, following its inauguration and inspection.
The road connecting two villages and a city in the Batangas province's second and fifth districts was inaugurated by Department of Public Works and Highways Secretary Mark Villar, along with 2nd District Rep. Raneo Abu and 5th District Rep. Marvey Marino.
“Halos tapos na ang buong proyektong ito at inaasahan natin na libo-libong sasakyan ang makikinabang sa kanilang pagdaan dito. May ilang mga extensions at finishing touches na lang na gagawin pero magagamit na ang kalsada within this quarter. Ito ay libreng magagamit ng mga biyahero at wala silang kailangang bayadan pagdaan dito,” Villar said.
The 10.97-kilometer-long route is part of the Luzon Spine Expressway Network, which is part of the Duterte administration's Build, Build, Build initiative.
Its goal is to cut the time it takes to travel from Batangas City to Bauan in half, from two hours to 20 minutes.
The total cost of the project, including the bridges, is P1.4 billion, and it is expected that thousands of cars will pass over it every day.
Aside from tourists passing through on their way to tourist destinations in Western Batangas, transportation of goods and services to the diversion road's bordering communities will be expedited.
