BATANGAS CITY - The Batangas City Government, the Batangas City Water District (BCWD)/Prime Water Infrastructure Corporation, the Sangguniang Barangay ng Paharang Kanluran, and the Paharang Kanluran Rural Waterworks and Sanitation Association (RWSA) signed an agreement on June 22 to address the shortage of water supply to consumers.
Mayor Beverley Dimacuha, Prime Water Branch Manager Engr. Chelton Arias, President Nenelita Zaraspe of barangay Paharang, and President of Paharang Kanluran RWSA Lorete Eje signed the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA).
The preceding action is in response to Mayor Dimacuha's directive to resolve the previous issue as soon as possible.
According to Engr Arias, Prime Water will conduct a three-day joint pump testing in the last week of June in order to reactivate the deep well in barangay Paharang Kanluran, which could be a source of water supply.
He said he is positive that the construction of Paharang West pumping station #2 will be a permanent solution to have adequate water flow in the two barangays.
About 1000 households will benefit from the project.
He also assured that they will stop conducting pumping activities at station #2 at the beginning or during the regular operation of the said station when it is proven that this is the cause of slowdown or loss of water flow of the waterworks system of Paharang West RWSA.
Paharang West has a Level III waterworks system managed by RWSA and has 173 affiliates who use it.
Prime Water is very grateful to the city government for the support it has provided to carry out such a project.
It is the main provider of water supply services to 54% of households in Batangas City.
Arias added that they have many on-going projects this year in various barangays in the city that aim to improve their service and reduce water interruptions.
