ANGONO, Rizal - "Inaagapan para sa tag-ulan, hindi na tumaas ang tubig sa ilog wala na po gaano bara"
Daisy Aguillon, an overall coordinator of BUSILAK, said this after cleaning two (2) trash traps in the Creekside Constellation in Brgy. San Isidro yesterday, Monday June 14, 2021.
They cleaned two trash traps in the Creekside Constellation, she said. They do this so that the river's water level does not rise and there is no further obstruction.
"Maraming salamat po sa Mag-Ama Magkasama sa Programa Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon at Mayor-Vice Calderon at DENR PENRO TAYTAY MANILA BAY sa programang Trash Trap. Malaking tulong po sa amin mga Busilak River Ranger." Aguillon said.
She also expressed gratitude to Capt. Fortunato Flojo and Raymond Angeles Lipio for their prompt garbage collection, as well as Raquel Ganancial, who has always helped the Busilak River Ranger.
Since 2014, BUSILAK, or BUhayin ang Sapa, ILog, LAwa, at Karagatan, has been a volunteer organization. The vast majority of its members are recipients of the Zero Squatter Program or the municipal land and housing program for informal settlers.
It is a partner of the local government with Mag-ama, Magkasama sa Programang Linis-Ilog, Zero Basura, and More Advocacy on Environment.
Angono is a Hall of Fame recipient in the Provincial Government's Clean and Green Program/Ynares Eco-System program, which is led by Governor Nini Ynares.
The town of Angono is also a GOLD Awardee of the DENR and DILG in the Manila Bay clean-up award in connection with the cleaning and maintenance of waterways adjacent to and surrounding Manila Bay.
This is the 2020 Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program LGU Compliance Assessment based on the recognition of proper solid waste management, liquid waste management, informal settler families, and the information, education, and campaign materials of the local government.
The constant cleaning of the river and canals, and the dredging or trenching of the Angono River are the reasons why the river does not overflow during storms or heavy rains, things that are important to protect and preserve the life and property of the people.
