CABUYAO, Laguna - On June 8, at least 20 residents participated in the Simple Nutrient Addition Program (SNAP) Hyrdoponics Training, which was led by the City Agriculture Office in Cabuyao, Laguna.
The Institute of Plant Breeding (IPB), University of the Philippines - Los Baos, provided each with a starter kit containing 1 growing box, 8 seedling plugs, 8 seedlings, 1 measuring cup, and 1 set of nutrient solutions.
This training is part of the IPB program "Promotion and Utilization of SNAP Hydroponics Technology System as an Alternative Food Production System in Selected Urban Areas in the National Capital Region and Region IV-A."
The goal of the program is to provide residents with additional income and knowledge about growing their own vegetable crops, even if they only have a small amount of planting space.
The SNAP Hydroponics system is a soil - based horticulture system. It is also one of the simplest food production technologies to implement, particularly in areas with limited planting space. (with reports from Cabuyao City Agriculture Office)
