TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite - The Department of Agriculture (DA) as part of its campaign to intensify urban agriculture in the CALABARZON region granted more than P2.6M worth of agricultural interventions to the local government of Imus for the local high value crops farmers.
DA IV-A OIC-Regional Executive Director Vilma M. Dimaculangan led the turn-over that include greenhouse with hydroponics technology, mushroom house, garden tools and various seeds and seedlings for two communal gardens, and other useful farm inputs.
During the activity, Dimaculangan emphasized the need for more communal gardens in highly urbanized localities to help ensure food security.
Imus City Vice Mayor Arnel M. Cantimbuhan in behalf of the city government expressed appreciation to the DA Calabarzon officials and to OIC Dimaculangan for the support to the city's agriculture programs.
"We thank DA IV-A for its continued drive to promote urban agriculture by enabling cities such as Imus establish or strengthen our own urban agriculture program especially in this time of pandemic," said Cantimbuhan. (Ruel Francisco with report from Imus City Agriculture Office)
