ANTIPOLO, Rizal - Good news for train riders in Eastern Metro Manila and Rizal, as LRT-2’s East Extension Project will start rolling to serve public commuters on June 23.

“June 22, the train will run here in Antipolo and Marikina, connected to LRT-2 Extension," Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade said.

"Our countrymen have been waiting for that for a long time. Now I see that our train will be pushed and operational.”

According to the DOTr, the expected trip from Recto to Antipolo will take only 40 minutes, compared to a three-hour bus and jeepney ride.

Likewise, with the opening of the extension project, around 320,000 train riders can be serviced.

Secretary Tugade and Light Rail Transit Authority-LRT2 Administrator General Reynaldo Berroya, together with DOTr officials recently inspected the two new stations – Marikina and Antipolo stations.

The LRT-2 East Extension project is part of the vast ′′BUILD, BUILD, BUILD ′′ infrastructure program of President Duterte’s administration, which was committed by Tugade, in accordance with the order of President to make the trip of our Filipino countrymen comfortable and comfortable. (PIA NCR)
