LIPA CITY, Batangas - The Sangguniang Panlalawigan is investigating the pungent and foul odor coming from a company in Barangay Sta. Teresita, Sto. Tomas, complained of by residents of Baranga Plaridel and San Lucas in Lipa City and Barangay Sta. Teresita in the City of Sto. Tomas.
This was one of the topics of the Committee Hearing on June 7, 2021 of the Committee on Environmental Protection, headed by 2nd District Board Member Wilson Rivera, which decided to investigate the said grievance of the residents of adjacent barangays on the boundary of Lipa City and Sto. Tomas.
The complaint was communicated to members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan in the privilege speech of Vice Governor Mark Leviste, who shared that some citizens approached him to inform the barangay of the foul smell.
According to the story of the locals, the pungent smell came from the compound of a company in Barangay Sta. Teresita and fragrant from afternoon to evening.
The Batangas Vice Governor added to B’yaheng Kapitolyo, the official radio program of the Batangas Provincial Government, that this unpleasant smell is already causing stomach aches for some residents in the said barangays.
