TANAY, Rizal - Fourteen carabaos worth P35,000 each or a total of P490,000 were turned over by the Department of Agriculture IV-CALABARZON (DA-4A) thru the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4Ks) Project to Dumagat farmers’ associations (FA) in Upper Bathala, Sampaloc, Tanay, Rizal on May 27.
According to DA CALABARZON, the carabao distribution under the 4Ks Project aims to help the indigenous group to increase the income of their livelihood.
The FA beneficiaries and the number of carabaos received include: Samahang Tribo ng Dumagat/Remontado ng Barangay San Andres, four (4) carabaos; two (2) each for Daraitan Alas-asin Manggahan Yamang Angking Kalikasan (DAM-YAK), Tunghayan at Ugnayan sa Cayumbang ng mga Dumagat at Remontado Para sa Unawain ng Aral ng mga Ninuno (TUCDUAN), and Samahang Pangkatutubo ng Sampaloc, Kasama sa Paglago (SPSKP); three (3) in Dumagat Remontado ng Laiban; and one for Samahang mga Katutubong Dumagat Remontado ng Barangay Tinucan.
Carabaos are very helpful to the farmers in plowing the land in preparation for planting as well as in the delivery of harvested crops from hilly-type areas, like Upper Bathala, to trading areas in the low-land. (CPG, PIA-4A with report from DA-4A)
