TAYSAN, Batangas - The Batangas Provincial Government-Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO) participated in the celebration of Philippines Arbor Day on June 25, 2021, by planting 100 trees in the Town of Taysan, which was organized by a private company.
Arbor Day is observed annually on June 25 in accordance with Proclamation No. 396 issued by former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo on that date in 2003. The order's goal is to raise public awareness about the importance of planting trees and plants, and it requires all government agencies, the private sector, schools, civil society organizations, and citizens to actively participate in tree planting.
Also participated in the tree-planting activity, inside the compound of Republic Cement and Building Materials, Inc. Batangas Plant, the officers and staff of the Taysan Municipal Government; barangay officials of Barangay Mapulo, Taysan; representatives of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), and staff of said cement plant.
Among the seedlings planted are Langka, Caimito, Durian, Santol, Aguho and Molave, which are expected to help in promoting a healthy ecosystem and green environment in the said area.
The Provincial Government of Batangas, led by Governor DoDo Mandanas, continues to support all activities that help improve, protect, and maintain a healthy, clean, and green environment throughout the province, according to Luis Awitan, department head of PGENRO.(with reports from PG-ENRO-Batangas Capitol PIO)
