ATIMONAN, Quezon - The local government of Atimonan, led by Mayor Rustico Joven "Ticoy" U. Mendoza, and the constituents of the Sangguniang Bayan, led by Vice Mayor Zenaida Veranga, were recently recognized by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) CALABARZON Region at the Virtual Environmental Summit for having a "Outstanding Practice of Composting Operations."
The of said Virtual Environmental Summit is related to the celebration of Philippine Environmental Month 2021 with the theme: "Sama-samang pagkilos, sama-samang paghilom. Ikaw, ako, tayo ang kaliksan” this past June, which was attended by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) Atimonan.
There was also a presentation of best practices in solid waste management from various towns in CALABARZON recognized by the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB).
The town of Atimonan was awarded this recognition by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) for maintaining the town of Atimonan environmental programs in collaboration with EMB CALABARZON in an effort to achieve a more balanced and healthy environment.
According to Mayor Mendoza, receiving the trophy of recognition is an honor; he believes the award demonstrates how good the Atimonanin are, as well as the staff of the MENRO branch.
He thanked all Atimonan residents who have banded together and continue to support the Atimonan local government's environmental programs.
"Sa huling bahagi ng Environmental Summit ay isa ang bayan ng Atimonan sa mapalad na nabigyan ng tropeo ng pagkilala na nagpapakita ng tagumpay ng mga programa ng MENRO na hindi natin makakamit kung wala ang aktibong partisipasyon ng mga mamamayang Atimonanin. [The town of Atimonan was one of the lucky ones to be awarded the trophy of recognition in the final part of the Environmental Summit, demonstrating the success of MENRO programs that we would not have achieved without the active participation of the Atimonanin citizens.]" sabi ni Mayor Mendoza.
