BATANGAS CITY - On July 12, 2021, the Batangas Provincial Government and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) formally signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the use of more than 5,356 square meters of provincial government land in Barangay Malainin, Ibaan, where the DSWD will construct their Regional Warehouse Facility.
The signing of the 25-year Usufruct Agreement was led by DSWD Secretary Rolando Joselito Bautista and CALABARZON Regional Director Marcelo Nicomedes Castillo, while the provincial government was represented by Governor Hermilando “DoDo” Mandanas and Provincial Social Welfare and Development Officer Jocelyn Montalbo.
It is contained in the said MOA authorized by the provincial government, in support and cooperation with the DSWD program, the temporary use of the said lot thereof to construct a Regional Warehouse here.
Once built, the Regional Warehouse will store essential equipment and essential supplies of DSWD dubbed “vital in relief and response operations sa buong CALABARZON Region.”
Sec. Bautista expressed his sincere gratitude to Capitol officials, led by Governor Mandanas, as well as to the Ibaan Municipal Government, led by Mayor Joy Salvame, for formulating the agreement.
He said this is a big help for their department to have a ready facility in CALABARZON, which can be made the center for the speedy performance of their mandate, in times of disaster in Southern Tagalog.
This agreement, he said, shows that the joint force of national and local governments will be able to meet the challenges of any disaster.
In his message, Governor Mandanas said it is an honor and privilege for the province to cooperate with the national government and its partner agencies, especially when it comes to extending aid and projects to the people affected by the calamities.
The agreement has been agreed to be effective from the date of its signing, which is 12 July 2021, and can be further extended in accordance with open talks between the two agreed parties.
