BATANGAS CITY - The vaccination of first responders, evacuees, and residents of neighboring Local Government Units of Lake Taal's coastal towns on July 16 at the DREAM Zone Vaccination Hub at the Provincial Capitol Compound in Batangas City was deemed a success for Batangas Province's vaccination program.

Responders, specifically members of the Philippine National Police, the Batangas Bureau of Fire Protection, emergency and relief operations workers, and those in designated evacuation centers, were among the 2,000 people who received their first vaccine.

They were prioritized due to the health of critical personnel performing their duties in the Taal Volcano disaster management and relief operations, which began on July 1 of this year.

The Department of Health (DOH), in collaboration with the Batangas Provincial Health Office, the Batangas Province Inter-Agency Task Force Against COVID-19, the DOH-Batangas Province, the Batangas Medical Center, and other medical agencies partnered National Task Force (NTF).

These organizations aid in the implementation of vaccination procedures, from registration to primary screening and verification, medical evaluation, and vaccine administration. Standard health protocols, such as wearing a face mask, face shield, and maintaining social distancing, have also been strictly enforced in conjunction with the aforementioned vaccination.

In his message, Governor DoDo Mandanas thanked the NTF and DOH, as well as several national government officials who participated in the program, including Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque and NTF Deputy Chief Implementer and Testing Czar Vince Dizon, who all recognized the importance of the Batangueo frontliners.

“Sa panahong kinakaharap ng lalawigan ang isa na namang posibleng pagsubok, importante na masiguro ang kalusugan ng mga Batangueño frontliners na prominenteng gumaganap sa kaayusan ng mga relief operations, gayundin ang mga vulnerable sectors,” Governor Mandanas said.

The governor also stated that the provincial government, in collaboration with and in support of local government officials around Taal Volcano Island, will carry out their responsibilities to the best of their abilities without exacerbating the effects of the pandemic in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the program included the presentation of ResBAKUNA awareness and a promotional song for the province. Batangas Province is proud to be one of the first to create a jingle to help strengthen the COVID-19 virus vaccination campaign.
