BATANGAS CITY - The City Safety Seal Inspection and Certification Committee has begun monitoring and inspection of city facilities in the implementation of the “Implementing Guidelines of the Safety Seal Certification Program” stated in the joint memorandum circular of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Health (DOH), Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Tourism (DOT) and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on June 25.

The group first went to Waltermart in Calicanto.

The purpose of the safety seal certification program is to ensure consumer safety by requiring establishments to strictly enforce health and safety policies and protocols in accordance with COVID-19.

The public will be encouraged to patronize businesses that have received the safety seal as a result of this.

According to Armando Lazarte, the head of the EBDMT monitoring team, they will conduct daily inspections and monitoring in accordance with Mayor Beverley Dimacuha's order to reduce the COVID-19 case in Batangas City.

“Dati pa naming ginagawa ang pagmomonitor pero mas pinaigting pa namin ngayon dahil sa joint memo na dumating. Makakaasa ang publiko na hindi kami tumitigil sa pag-ikot at pagpapaala-ala sa kanila” Lazarte said.

Ditas Rivera, BPLO chief and chairperson of the said committee, explained that they have checklists based on it to determine if an establishment is eligible for a safety seal.

Having a valid business or mayor's permit, a contact tracing tool such as Staysafe.PH and similar apps, thermal scanners for employees and customers, health declaration sheets, QR codes for contact tracing tools, and an isolation area for identified symptomatic employees are some of these.

He also said that there should be COVID 19 emergency hotlines posted in strategic areas, handwashing stations, physical barriers for social distancing and personnel-in-charge for it, adequate ventilation in accordance with DOLE Dept. Order 224-21, disinfection protocol, regular cleaning and disinfection of the area, wearing face masks and face shields, having Safety Officers as well as having a storage facility for used face masks and other infectious wastes.

Abigail Mondala, Waltermart's Mall Operations Manager, mentioned some of their mall's innovations, such as Grab and Use a Sanitized Chair and a holding area located in a well-ventilated area of the mall.

“Hindi pa man lumalabas ang memo tungkol sa City Safety Seal, ginagawa na namin ang ibat-ibang hakbang para sa karagdagang proteksyon ng aming mga mamimili at ng aming mga empleyado, ” Mondala said.
