QUEZON CITY — Aligned with its vision of a world-class customs administration, the Bureau of Customs (BOC) Ports of Manila and Batangas, and the Subport of Mactan were formally awarded the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification by the TUVSUD on July 5, 2021.
ISO 9001 certification is awarded to any organization that demonstrates conformity with ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Standard. ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS) is a framework to standardize business processes, enhance the quality of products and services, improve operational effectiveness, boost productivity, enhance customer satisfaction, and better management of risks in the organization.
The Port of Batangas was re-awarded with ISO QMS Certification after passing the second Surveillance Audit last April 30, 2021 with its expanded scope which includes the processes of Customer Care Center – Batangas. On May 21, 2021, the Subport of Mactan successfully passed the External Audit by TUVSUD. Following this feat is the Port of Manila, which also passed the Stage 2 Certification Audit on June 16, 2021.
Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero commended the Ports of Manila and Batangas, and the Subport of Mactan for passing the requirements and compliance to ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System. The Customs Chief also reminded the Ports to maintain quality management in implementing policies on Customs clearance procedures.

Meanwhile, the Subport of Dumaguete, and the Customer Care Center – Port of Manila seek to achieve the re-certification of their ISO QMS Certification. Both offices are set to undertake the first Surveillance Audit by the third quarter of 2021, and seven additional offices are already in preparation for their ISO QMS Certification for this year.
