BATNGAS CITY - Barangay Balete was named the 2019 Outstanding Barangay Nutrition Committee (BNC) and its BNS Noriemi Macatangay was named the outstanding Barangay Nutrition Scholar (BNS). They received a plaque and cash prize from the Nutrition Division of the City Health Office (CHO).
The awarding was held in the virtual celebration of the 47th Nutrition Month recently with the theme “Malnutrisyon Patuloy na Labanan, First 1,000 Days Tutukan".
Balete's BNC was chosen for its effective implementation of the Nutrition Division's activities, particularly the malnutrition campaign.
In the excellent BNC, the barangays of Soro-soro Ibaba, Tulo, and Banaba South were finalists.
BNS-retiree Violeta Asilo was awarded with a Certificate of Appreciation, and the seven BNS with the most years of service were honored.
On this occasion, the winners of the poster-making contest were awarded using the aforementioned theme which was won by Christian Dave Maullion, grade 6 student of Talumpok Silangan Elementary School.
Lizette Hernandez of Banaba East Elementary School took second place and 3rd place winner Paul Bryan Abalayan.
Nutrition Officer, Daisy Buenafe was the resource speaker.

Dra. Rosanna Barrion, the City Health Officer, and Mayor Beverley Dimacuha both thanked the BNS for their efforts in delivering health services to the barangays.
Mayor Dimacuha underlined the need of a balanced diet from the start of a mother's pregnancy.
“Mahalaga ang wastong nutrisyon para sa good brain and physical development ng bata. Equally important din ang emotional at mental health, dapat ay madevelop sa bata ang kumpyensa sa sarili’, Mayor Dimacuha said.
