75 young Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) |
BATANGA CITY - Due to the pandemic, 75 young Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) grantees started working for 20 days in their local barangays instead of in various offices of the Batangas municipal government on August 2.
It aims to give students the opportunity to earn a living this holiday, especially those who have difficulty studying due to lack of finances.
It intends to provide students with the option to earn money over the holidays, particularly those who are unable to study due to financial constraints.
According to Public Employment Service Office Manager (PESO) Noel Silang who manages the said program, Mayor Beverley Dimacuha wants to help students through such a program with consideration for their health and safety.
Some of the grantees were chosen based on recommendations from KALIPI officials in their respective barangays, while others applied themselves and met the program's standards.
SPES grantees must submit a weekly report to PESO on the humanitarian, resilience and innovative programs of their barangay during this pandemic period.
Each SPES will receive a P10,000 stipend for 20 working days, with 60% of the funding coming from the local government and 40% coming from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
