DASMARIÑAS, Cavite - Due to staff shortages, the Ospital ng Dasmarinas (OnD) and General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital (GEAMH) in Trece Martires City have announced plans to temporarily close the admission of new patients.

According to previous reports, an increasing number of workers in the province's hospitals are infected with COVID-19, which is why they are understaffed.



"Thank you for understanding. We are at full capacity and understaffed, most of our doctors and nurses have tested positive and some are in quarantine. This is temporary until our staff has recovered. We have disinfected the hospital and have recharged for quality service," statement by Dr. Malu Caguingin-Campos, hospital director of OnD on social media.

At GEAMH according to Dr. Nonie John Dalisay, a provincial health official, announced in an interview, the emergency room, intensive care unit, tuberculosis, and newborn screening department were temporarily closed due to infected hospital staff.



According to Dalisay, in the past three weeks, provincial hospitals have been ‘undermanned’ or understaffed due to an increase in Covid -related cases, where she mentioned that 58 out of 72 public health unit staff were positive for the disease. . About two hundred and fifteen staff of General Trias Municipal Hospital were quarantined because 78 tested positive.

According to Dalisay, provincial hospitals have been undermanned or understaffed in the last three weeks due to an increase in Covid-related cases, with 58 out of 72 public health unit staff testing positive for the disease. Approximately 225 General Trias Municipal Hospital employees were quarantined after 78 tested positive.



"After the staff had finished their quarantine, hopefully, they could return to work, staff rotation could resume as well the admission of patients," Dalisay said.

The occupancy rate in Covids of public hospitals in the province was 79.1 percent, 63.3 percent in isolation facilities, 92.7 percent in intensive care units, and 79 percent in mechanical ventilators.
