LUCENA CITY - The Philippine Red Cross Quezon Lucena Chapter's mobile vaccination program began in Barangay Isabang, under the supervision of Chapter Administrator Sir Victor De Leon.
According to De Leon in an interview with TV12 Balita, their group contacted the City Government, led by Mayor Roderick Dondon Alcala, and the City Health Office in order to bring and tour the 'vaccine bus' in Lucena to help expedite the vaccination program here.
He explained that the vaccine bus's decision to make the said barangay its first destination in the city was based on its interaction with the aforementioned authorities.
Concerning the barangay residents who will benefit from the program, the Barangay Government will maintain a master list of its invited residents who will be given the opportunity to be vaccinated, and he stated that walk-ins are not accepted to avoid overcrowding.
Relating the vaccine bus's capacity to vaccinate, the chapter administrator explained that it is still based on the supply of vaccine received by the organization at their national headquarters, which is why he stated that it can inject 300 to 500 people per day.
Dr. Jose Jaycee Tabernilla, one of the organization's partners in the activity, as well as the Isabang Barangay Government led by Captain Armelito Robles in forming the Philippine Red Cross and its Quezon Lucena Chapter, are grateful for the initiative to bring the 'Bakuna Bus' to the city.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Red Cross Quezon Lucena Chapter assured that the 'Bakuna Bus' will continue to be launched in other barangays throughout the city as long as the city government and the city health office remain in contact. (with report PIO Lucena)
