BAUAN, Batangas - At the 2021 Para El Mar Awards and Recognitions of Marine Protected Areas (MPA) Support Network, the San Pablo de Bauan Marine Protected Area in Bauan Town was recently recognized and honored as the 2nd runner up in Outstanding Locally-Managed Marine Protected Areas around the Philippines (MSN).
With a total size of 240.82 hectares, the San Pablo de Bauan MPA is part of Balayan Bay on the coast of Batangas Province. The Management Board, led by the Bauan Local Government, works along with the association of resort owners, divers, fisherman, Bantay Dagat, Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council, and the people to manage and maintain it.
Together with the Provincial Government of Batangas, through the Provincial Government Environment and Natural Resources Office (PGENRO), in providing guidance here to maintain a clean, orderly and prosperous ocean throughout the province.
According to PGENRO, the recognition is the result of a concerted effort, despite the pandemic, to preserve and protect the environment and nature for future generations. (with reports from PGENRO - Batangas Capitol PIO)
