ANGONO, Rizal - Fines of up to P500 to P2,500 will be imposed on health protocol violators in Angono town, Rizal.
Mayor Jeri Mae Calderon and Vice Mayor Gerardo Calderon said Wednesday on Facebook live that enforcers will issue tickets to those caught breaking the rules of the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases ( IATF) and the Department of Health's minimum public health standards.
For the first to third offenses, fines for not wearing face masks range from P500 to P2,500, while curfew violators face fines ranging from P1,500 to P2,500.
The mandatory immersion in the town gymnasium, where there will be a lecture and viewing of a documentary on COVID-19, is also part of the punishment to be imposed by the local government.
According to the two officials, the town has recorded an average of 30 new cases per day in recent days. The imposition of the fine will serve as a reminder to residents that the local government is serious about enforcing the laws in order to prevent an increase in cases in the future.
“Hindi na po ito biru-biruan. Kailangan po namin ang inyong pakikiisa,“ Vice Mayor Calderon said. (with report from Manila Bulletin, Angono Police Station)
