LUCENA CITY -At the city's recent Virtual Ceremonial, Mayor Roderick Dondon Alcala formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement addressing the implementation of the Yakap Bayan Program as well as the Specific Implementation Agreement for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program.

The mayor was joined on the program by City Administrator Anacleto ‘Jun’ Alcala Jr., City Anti-Drug Abuse Council Operations Head Francia Malabanan, and City Social Welfare and Development Office OIC Mayshell Rañada.

DSWD IV-A Director Marcelo Nicomedes Castillo and Undersecretary Jose Antonio Hernandez spoke to the visitors via Zoom and expressed their enthusiasm for the good local government initiatives for recovering drug users and the rehabilitation of their lives.

As a result, the stated department is pleased that the City Government, led by Mayor Alcala, would work together to execute the Yakap Bayan Program, a social reintegration program for RPWUDS, in the city.

In an interview with CADAC Operations Head Malabanan, he shared that the said program will be a great help for RPWUDS in the city so that they can return to their families and the community as productive citizens by undergoing various other exercises.

Mayor Alcala stated in his statement that he considers local government programs for persons seeking to convert their lives from illicit activities to be a major benefit to the city of Lucena and its residents with the assistance of the DSWD program.

Meanwhile, at the closing of the ceremony, the mayor formally signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the YAKAP BAYAN Program as well as the SIA of 4Ps, expressing his continued intention to alleviate the status of the city's most vulnerable residents while also advancing the city's development.
