According to Dr. Janairo, Ivermectin is safe and really helpful and is seen as a re-purposed drug.
He said he believes this will help to reduce the case of those dying and falling ill with COVID-19.
In the deliberations of the IATF and the Local Health Board, after the sharing of the DOH regional director, it was unanimously agreed, led by the Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Rosvilinda Ozaeta, and DOH Batangas Province chief, Dr. Elizabeth Sario, the use of said drug in provincial hospitals and home integrated medical services of the provincial government as a means of research and study.
It was agreed to include Ivermectin as one of the prescription medicines of COVID-19 patients, but its intake was voluntary and not mandatory.
According to Governor Mandanas, Ivermectin will be one of the drugs to be given to patients as part of the research study, but stressed that it is not compulsory.
The governor added that the funds of the provincial government and its facilities, including the use of Ivermectin, are ready for the government's ongoing fight against the pandemic caused by COVID-19. (with reports from Batangas Capitol PIO)
