TAYABAS CITY - As part of the Cooperative Month Celebration, representatives from various cooperatives in Tayabas City rode in a motorcade with the Cooperative Development Office staff, led by Gener Abordo.

October is Cooperative Month, during which cooperatives around the world celebrate the many ways in which coops are committed to the community, including diversity, equity, and inclusion toward nation-building through cooperativism.

Every October, the entire cooperative sector nationwide celebrates Cooperative Month, as declared by Proclamation No. 493, s. 2003, signed on October 29, 2003, by then President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, declaring the month of October 2004 and every year thereafter as Cooperative Month, to encourage wider participation of all sectors of society in nation-building through cooperativism.

The motorcade ended at Tayabas East Central School where a formal turn-over of 2 “class-homes” or classrooms with equipment suitable for a typical home was held. This is a Cooperative Development Council project for SPED students where TECS Principal Joy B. Go accepted “class-homes.”

Former Councilor and Executive Assistant Lovely Reynoso Pontioso represented Mayor Enida Agpi Reynoso on the occasion who also delivered a message of congratulations from the mayor. Meanwhile, CDA Regional Director Pedro Defensor delivered the message via a recorded video message. Also present were VM Manny Maraig, Councilor Precy Glorioso, Mercy Reyes, Jerry Caagbay and Maphet Jacela.

The signing of the donation deed, as well as the blessing and ribbon cutting of the donated "class-home," were also held on the occasion.

King MPC is one with the world in celebrating the 2021 Cooperative Month with the theme: “Kooperatibang Matatag:Tumutugon sa mga Hamon, Daan sa Pagbangon, Nagbibigay Pag’asa sa Makabagong Panahon”

Tayabas City SDO ASDS Girlie Ilagan, CSWDO Irma Ilocario, City Agriculturist Rommel Abuyan, and CeC Manager Marvin Jacela also attended the event. The occasion also included the signing of the donation deed, as well as the blessing and ribbon cutting of the donated 'class-home."

The Tayabas Cooperative Development Council, in collaboration with various cooperatives such as TCMC, SJMPC, TCTSC, TGMPC, IMPC, MCCT, SNMIPTCC, LMC, EKCCT, and GETMPC, conducted a simultaneous river clean-up in the rivers of Barangay Lalo, Silangang Palale, and Ibabang Palale.

Some of the Local Government offices including PESO, TK CAMAYSA, City Agriculture, CENRO, DRRMO, GSO, DTI and CICRO also participated in the activity.

An estimated 1,000 people were vaccinated with the Anti-Influenza Vaccine at the Bayanihan Isolation Facility as part of the Cooperative Month Celebration.

The previous 200 doses of vaccine provided by Quezon Gov. Danilo Suarez in the Cooperative Development Office headed by Gener Abordo were increased by 800 doses due to the request of Former Councilor Lovely Reynoso Pontioso so that LGU staff and others who want to be vaccinated will also be vaccinated.

Mayor Reynoso was among those who vaccinated to encourage the people that this vaccine is important to ensure health.

Governor Suarez also paid a visit to the vaccination site to deliver a message, where he was greeted by Mayor Ernida Reynoso, Former Councilor Lovely Reynoso Pontioso, Councilor Dino Romero, Luz Cuadra, Farley Abrigo, Felimon Villanueva Jr., Tristian Pontioso, and friends Wenda Saberola, Nick Abesamis, Elsa Rubio, also present were City Administrator Diego Narzabal and Dr. Marquez to monitor vaccinations.
