MONTALBAN, Rizal – Locals of Barangay Macabud in Montalban, Rizal will benefit from the P20 million Farm-to-Market Road through Support to Barangay Development Program.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government IV-A and other line government agencies lead the groundbreaking ceremony connecting Sitio Proper I to Sitio Proper II in the municipality this October 15.
Municipal Local Government Operations Officer Eunice Guanzon, representing Montalban Mayor Dennis Hernandez, thanks the national government for granting Barangay Macabud the SBDP project.
“The municipal mayor and barangay government receive this (project) with open arms,” Guanzon said.
Guanzon adds that the groundbreaking of the farm-to-market road will serve as a large opportunity both in terms of accessibility and transportation of crops and goods.
Barangay Macabud chair Judith Gandia adds that the road construction will later on help students access schools and transport patients to hospitals.
SBDP is a program under the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) which aims to empower grassroots communities in identified insurgency-free areas.
The program targets the provinces of Batangas, Rizal and Quezon in the CALABARZON region.
According to Rizal Provincial Board Member Rommel Ayuson, three barangays in Rizal province will benefit from funding through the SBDP namely Barangay Sta. Ines in Tanay and; Puray and Macabud in Montalban.
Also present during the groundbreaking ceremony are DILG IV-A Regional Director Ariel Iglesia, DILG-Rizal Allan Benitez, Rizal Provincial Board Member Adolfo Gallanosa, Office of the Presidential Adviser for Southern Tagalog head executive assistant Efren Echavia, Barangay Macabud chair Judith Gandia and other local officials.
