DASMARIÑAS, Cavite - One policeman was killed, while another was injured in a buy-bust operation that ended in an armed encounter in Dasmariñas City on Tuesday night.
Based on Calabarzon Police, anti-illegal drug operatives conducted a drug sting operation in Barangay Salawag around 9:30 p.m.
One of the suspected drug pushers, identified as Marlon Pacia, allegedly felt they were talking to police agents so he pulled out a .45 caliber pistol and shot the hiding cops, who were Police Staff Sergeant Karl Marty Manzanilla and Patrolman Ariel Maribojo.
The two policemen sustained gunshot wounds and were taken to Dasmariñas City Medical Center but Manzanilla died on the way.
The three suspects, Marlon Pacia, Jun-jun Javier, and Jomarie Pacia, allegedly managed to escape, prompting the police to conduct a manhun operation to arrest them.
Other suspected drug suspects identified as Jesabel Cadag, Jemuel Pillar, John Pacia, and John Lloyd Pacia were also arrested.
The arrested suspects are now in custody and facing the corresponding criminal charges.
