TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite – The Mendez- Nuñez local government in celebration of Drug Abuse Prevention and Control (DAPC) Week hold a Kumustahan activity with the drug rehabilitation graduates on Friday, November 12, 2021.
The event gathered a total of ninety-six graduates of the SIPAG/AHON (Aksyon sa Hamon ng Nagbabalik-loob na Mendezeño) which served as venue to meet and greet with their fellow converts and the members of the concerned local government offices.
AHON Mendezeño is a program which provides care for the welfare of the drug dependents through rehabilitation, recovery and reintegration while the Kumustahan activity is part of the after-care program to ensure that the drug dependents will never return to a life of addiction.
It also serves as the LGU’s response to support the converts and their families thru programs on public health and livelihood.
This year’s DAPC Week was themed, “Share Facts on Drugs, Save Lives,” as the Kumustahan program guests and speakers shared informative facts on the dangers and adverse effects of drugs, as well as messages of hope and inspiration to strive hard to improve their lives.
The event was graced by Mayor Fredderick Vida, with Mendez-PNP Chief Major Larry Lacaste, DILG-MLGOO Anne Kimberly Babaan, and Mendez Municipal Health Officer Dr. Rosie Veridiano.
The municipal government of Mendez-Nuñez was the first municipality in the province to be declared a ‘Drug Free Municipality’ and was awarded the Gold award in the 2018 Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Anti-Drug Abuse Council Performance Audit. — Ruel Francisco, PIA Cavite/GG
