TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — The number of Covid-19 active cases in Cavite province significantly dropped since October 11 as more patients recovered from the disease, data from the provincial health office showed.
Based on the latest Covid-19 case tracker in the province, active infections dropped to 2,470 on Thursday from the more than 9,000 active cases logged during the first two weeks of October. Patient recoveries, meanwhile, increased by almost 15,000 which is now at 121,294.
The number of daily new Covid-19 infections further slowed down as it logged an average of 456 cases daily from October 11 to October 27 compared to over 1,000 cases daily average of new cases recorded in September until the first two weeks of October.
As of October 27, the total number of confirmed cases in the province reached 126,910 with an additional 7,755 cases recorded in a period of more than two weeks which averages about 456 cases daily.
Covid-19-related deaths slightly increased from 2,800 to 3,146 as additional 346 patients succumbed to the disease during the said period.
The decrease in the cases recorded show the Provincial Government’s effective Covid-19 response initiatives carried out by the different local government units particularly on testing, contact tracing and isolation of positive cases in areas of concern.
Moreover, the rapid distribution of Covid-19 vaccines thru the LGU’s vaccination rollouts contributed to the decrease in the positivity rates with more constituents immunized and gaining the protection against the risks of severe Covid-19 symptoms.
With the continued arrival of the Covid-19 vaccine supply from the national government, several LGUs have stepped up their vaccination rollouts with the acceptance of Walk-Ins for the inoculation of the General Population, as well as opening their doors to residents of neighbouring towns who wished to get vaccinated.
The first LGU to accept non-resident vaccinees was the city of Tagaytay being the first city in the province as well as in Calabarzon region to reach herd immunity and after inoculating a percentage of people beyond its target population.
Pediatric immunization against Covid-19 for children aged 12-17 years while prioritizing those with comorbidities will soon commence with pre-registration opened for those who wished to be vaccinated. — Ruel Francisco, PIA-Cavite (with reports from the Cavite Provincial Information Office)
