LUCENA CITY - For the second consecutive year, cemeteries in the city of Lucena will remain closed this Undas 2021.
This was announced by City Administrator Anacleto ‘Jun’ Alcala Jr. recently by the Public Information Office.
He said that from October 29 to November 2, 2021, all cemeteries in the city will not be allowed to be open to the public although Lucena City is currently under Alert Level 2 status..
According to Alcala, this initiative by the local government is also as a precaution to prevent the infection of the deadly COVID-19.
In this way, he said, the influx of people who usually experience when Undas comes every year will be avoided.
The City Administrator clarified that the public can go and visit the deceased loved ones any day except the said time.
On the days that can be visited, only limited capacity will be allowed inside the cemeteries and everyone must comply with minimum public health standards.
Meanwhile, the Lucena PNP is currently patrolling the city's cemeteries as part of their Oplan Ligtas Undas 2021.
This is to ensure that the rules within the area are followed for the safety of everyone.
It will be recalled that all cemeteries in the city of Lucena were also closed in commemoration of the Day of the Dead in 2020 as a precaution against the possible spread of the virus.
